The Fallbrook Public Utility District awarded Palm Engineering the contract to replace multiple FPUD waterlines during fiscal year 2022‑23.
The FPUD board voted 4-0 Sept. 2, with Ken Endter not able to participate, to award Palm Engineering a $3,574,950 contract for the work and to reject the bid protest submitted by PK Mechanical Systems, which was the second-lowest bidder.
It is the eighth day in a row that a flex alert has been called in California, reports NBC 7’s Melissa Adan.

A 15-day outdoor watering ban took effect for 4 million Los Angeles County residents on Tuesday as crews make emergency repairs to a pipeline that delivers water to Southern Californians, according to the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
The North San Diego Water Reuse Coalition was awarded a grant of up to $17.8 million for the development of recycled water infrastructure. The grant funds come from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.

Water production at the Carlsbad desalination plan has been temporarily reduced to conserve power while the heat wave stresses California’s electric grid.
The Claude “Bud” Lewis Carlsbad Desalination Plant, which can produce up to 50 million gallons per day, typically accounts for about 1% of peak electricity demand in San Diego Gas & Electric’s service area.
