The Water Authority's Asset Management team hosted a showcase today to highlight the various cutting edge technologies that help keep our large-diameter pipelines in top shape. There are 308 miles of large pipes, known as transmission pipelines, that deliver water throughout San Diego County, and they act like the main arteries in a human body. Maintaining the health of these pipes is critical to the reliability and safety of our water supply. Some of the tools showcased today included acoustic measuring devices, electromagnetic tools, and high-resolution video surveillance devices. One of these devices was invented by our very own operations and maintenance manager Martin Coghill.
